NIKOM Makes Online Education Contents for Overseas Health Care Providers and the Public!

The National Institute for Korean Medicine Development (NIKOM, President Eungse Lee) is making online education contents as a means to promote globalization of Korean medicine as well as proliferate worldwide the excellence of medical procedures that doctors of Korean medicine perform. 

To create videos aimed at professionals, seven people were selected through fair competition judged by a recommendation committee consisting of 25 internal and external experts, of those who have applied individually or were endorsed by institutions.

This project is conducted in the form of recording the know-hows of medical procedures performed by medical experts in-depth

, It is remarkable in that Dr. Junhyuk Shin, Dr. Shinyoung Joo, and Dr. Jonghoon Choi, members of Korean Medicine R&D Team1 in the Department of Korean Medicine Development approaches this project from the younger generation’s viewpoint.

Since the project encompasses questions that overseas health care providers might raise while learning new medical procedures, this is anticipated to become a stepping stone for Korean Medicine education.

The videos aimed for educating professionals that are currently in the process of being made in the year 2019 are as follows. : The Chuna therapy by Dr. Jun-sik Shin, President of Jaseng Korean Medicine hospital; Pharmacopuncture; MST acupuncture; Treatment of Infertility by Dr. Jun-young Jo, Doctor of Conmaul Hospital of Korean Medicine; Temporomandibular joint balancing technique(TBT) by Dr. Young-jun Lee, Director of the Institute of TMJ Integrative Medicine. As for the year 2020, Facial palsy treatment, First aid procedure in sports Korean medicine, RSN acupuncture and Acupotomy are the topics that will be addressed.

The videos concerned are now in the editing process, and is to be provided consecutively so that overseas health care providers can be able to watch them at the globalizing homepage of NIKOM.

In addition, videos for the public (non-professionals) abroad, who had not had chances to have access to Korean Medicine is also to be produced, in a bid to promote interest and attention. ‘Constitutional Medicine and Iridology’ by Dr. Seong-il Park, the Chief doctor of Park Sung-il Korean medicine clinic; ‘Atopic Dermititis Treatment for my Child’ by Dr.Man-ki Hwang, the founder and representative of Inuri Korean Medicine Clinic Network; ‘Disease Occurs According to Appearance’ by Dr. Haeng-gyu Jeong, the director of the Bondiol Clinic of Korean Medicine; are all videos that are made for non-professionals, that provide information about the topics related to Korean Medicine. 

By the contents provided through online educational videos that have been produced in the year 2019 for professionals and the public, we sincerely hope that this will improve public awareness of Korean Medicine as well as contribute to its globalization.
