NIKOM-NCC Hold a Joint Seminar for the Development of Anticancer Medicine by Convergence of Korean and Western Medicine

- Convergence Research Based on Korean Medicine Establishes Scientific Grounds of Anticancer Effect of Natural Substance -

The National Institute for Korean Medicine Development (NIKOM) (President Eungse Lee) and the National Cancer Center (NCC) (President Eun Sook Lee) held the 4th joint seminar at the main auditorium located in the first floor of NIKOM’s Gyeongsan Headquarter building, from 3PM to 5PM on Thursday, September 26.

During the welcome speech, Eungse Lee, President of NIKOM said, “We hope to create an exemplary cooperative model for the development of anticancer medicine.

The NIKOM and NCC organized the seminar for sharing results of Korean-medicine-based researches converging Korean and western medicine for the development of anticancer medicine. The seminar also aimed for discussing the direction of future researches together.

NIKOM made presentations on the topics as follows: △Development of the multi-modality molecular targeted anticancer medicine based on Korean medicine, △Research on cancer prevention of extracts containing molecular targeted anticancer effective substances, and △Research on the safety of natural substances derived from the materials of Korean medicine.

During the opening speech of the seminar, Eun Sook Lee, President of NCC said, “This seminar will contribute to the establishment of the scientific grounds of natural substances’ anticancer effects.”

Following that, NCC made presentations on the topics as follows: △NIKOM’s natural substances: discovery of Anoikis-sensitizer, △Research on anticancer activity of natural substances derived from Korean Medicinal Herbs, and △Exploratory research on the potential of 10B08 as targeted therapy of lung cancer caused from KRAS mutation.

Eungse Lee, President of NIKOM said, “By cooperating and complementing each other based on experiences in joint researches, we hope to create an exemplary cooperative model for the development of anticancer medicine, as well as achieving each institute’s own goals.”

NIKOM (President Eungse Lee) and NCC (President Eun Sook Lee) held the 4th joint seminar at the main auditorium in NIKOM’s Gyeongsan Headquarter building, at 3PM on Thursday, September 26. 

Eun Sook Lee, President of NCC said, “This seminar will contribute to the establishment of the scientific grounds of natural substances’ anticancer effects, which we have been researching so far. The seminar will also contribute to seeking for the direction of the cooperation with Korean medicine field.”

Meanwhile, along with the joint seminar with NCC, NIKOM announced the Charter of Human Rights Education and Human Rights Management, designating the day as ‘Day of Human Rights, Integrity and Communication’, with a pledge ceremony for anti-corruption and integrity. Also, ‘Communication Town Hall Meeting’, a meeting where the President and all employees of the institute can discuss and communicate each other, took place on this day as well.
